Course Curriculum
Understand Parts Language
Learn the foundational components of Internal Family Systems (IFS) and how to speak using “parts language.” Parts exist within us all, and they always have a positive intent, even if that may not be readily apparent based on their actions. Parts organize themselves to protect, care for, and motivate the person.
Goals of the Integrated Model
The integrated approach helps the client develop insight and understanding regarding their thoughts, feelings, and behavior, restoring trust in the client’s inner system, assisting them in developing a stronger sense of identity, healing wounds, releasing negative beliefs, and reorganizing their internal system.
The Integrated Approach: A New Lens
The integrated approach offers a new lens to conceptualize a client’s experience. It is non-pathologizing and honors their protective system, which can often feel bypassed in standard protocol EMDR. We slow the process down to empower the client to make lifelong changes.
Well-Protected Systems
Well-protected systems are prevalent, especially with complex PTSD or relational trauma. We focus on the intention of the part, not the actual symptom or behavior of the part. In The EMDR and IFS Model, we enter the system through its protective layers instead of immediately targeting traumatic memories or wounds.
Knowing Self
In IFS, the Self is our most authentic sense of who we are and is the source of healing just like the AIP. Everyone has a Self; some just have less access to it. Self-energy does not have a plan, agenda, or strategy but rather a strong desire to heal. Throughout the training, therapists learn to access their own Self-energy and rely on the client’s Self for healing.
Parts-Focused Interweaves
The integrated model provides clinicians with strategic ways to utilize parts-focused interweaves during phase four reprocessing. The protocol shifts from the idea of a “blocking belief” to a more compassionate “protective drive.” We also shy away from the “cognitive” component of these interweaves to prevent inviting in managers.
Tuition is $395 for the 3-day virtual course.
