Consultant-in-Training (CIT) Groups

Developmental Support for Emerging and Experienced EMDR Consultants

The Consultant-in-Training (CIT) Groups support EMDR-trained clinicians as they step into, refine, or deepen their consulting roles. These groups focus on consultant-level thinking, leadership, ethics, and clinical judgment, rather than simply accumulating hours.

CIT Groups are offered periodically and intentionally small, developmental, and responsive to each cohort's needs.

Two CIT Group Pathways (Based on Experience Level)

Because Consultants-in-Training bring varying levels of experience, I offer two distinct CIT group formats. Both pathways support clinicians on the EMDRIA consultant pathway, with group placement based on current experience rather than hierarchy or status.

Foundations CIT Group

For clinicians who are new to consultation or early in their Consultant-in-Training process.

This group is a good fit if you:

  • Are not yet providing consultation, or have provided only a small amount

  • Feel unsure how to structure a consultation or respond to consultees’ questions

  • Want support developing confidence, clarity, and consultant identity

  • Are learning how to assess consultee readiness and needs

This pathway focuses on building a strong foundation for stepping into the consultant role.

Advanced CIT Group

For clinicians who are actively providing consultation or who have significant supervisory experience.

This group is a good fit if you:

  • Are already offering group and/or individual EMDR consultation

  • Have experience supervising or mentoring clinicians

  • Want to refine your consultation style, leadership, and clinical decision-making

This pathway focuses on deepening, refining, and stabilizing your consulting practice.

Cohort Structure

Each CIT cohort includes:

  • Up to 4 participants

  • 4 live group meetings with the same cohort

  • A consistent group to support depth, continuity, and relationship-building

Participants may:

  • Repeat a cohort

  • Move from the Foundations group into the Advanced group as readiness develops

CIT Groups are designed to be developmental, not one-time experiences.

How the CIT Groups Work

Rather than following a fixed curriculum, CIT Groups are responsive and cohort-driven. At the start of each cohort, we identify participants’ experience levels, goals, and developmental edges, and adapt the focus accordingly.

Depending on the needs of the group, we may explore topics such as:

  • Consultant-level case conceptualization

  • Assessing consultee readiness and fit

  • Providing clear, ethical, and effective consultation feedback

  • Navigating consultant boundaries and scope

  • Therapist parts and Self-leadership in consultation

  • Understanding EMDRIA expectations and documentation

  • Building a sustainable consultation practice

The emphasis is on learning to think like a consultant, not memorizing rules or checklists.

EMDRIA Requirements & Consultant Naming

Participants in CIT Groups may:

  • Name me as their EMDRIA-Approved Consultant, or

  • Participate while formally working under another EMDRIA-Approved Consultant

Group consultation hours may be applied toward EMDRIA requirements in accordance with EMDRIA guidelines, including distinctions between group and individual consultation hours.

Because EMDRIA requirements may change, participants are responsible for confirming how hours apply to their specific certification pathway. I encourage participants to review EMDRIA’s Consultant Certification requirements directly.

Investment

CIT Groups are offered as small, fixed cohorts to support depth and meaningful development.

  • Cohort Size: Up to 4 participants

  • Format: 4 live group meetings

Standard Rate: $550 per participant for the full 4-meeting cohort

Reduced-Fee Seat: $350
One reduced-fee seat may be available per cohort to support access for clinicians who may otherwise be excluded due to financial barriers. There is no application process. If this applies to you, you’re welcome to use the provided access code at registration.

Participants may repeat cohorts or progress from the Foundations group into the Advanced group as readiness develops.

Which CIT Group Is Right for Me?

Foundations CIT Group may be a fit if you:

  • Are new to providing EMDR consultation

  • Feel uncertain about how to structure consultation sessions

  • Want support developing a consultant identity and confidence

  • Are learning how to evaluate consultee readiness

Advanced CIT Group may be a fit if you:

  • Are already providing EMDR consultation

  • Want to refine your consultation style and leadership presence

  • Are navigating more complex consultation dynamics

If you’re unsure which group is the best fit, that’s expected. Placement is based on readiness, and we’ll clarify together before enrollment.

Availability

CIT Groups are not always open for enrollment.

When groups are not currently scheduled, you’re welcome to join the interest list to be notified when future cohorts open.

Additional Learning Experiences That May Support CIT Development

While the CIT Groups focus on consultant-level thinking, leadership, and identity, some clinicians also choose to complement this work with other learning experiences offered periodically:

EMDR + IFS Consultation Groups
Ongoing group consultation focused on clinical integration, case conceptualization, and decision-making.

EMDR + IFS Demo Groups
Live demonstration groups designed to deepen consultant thinking through real-time observation and reflective discussion.

EMDR + IFS Practicum Groups
Skills-based groups offering structured opportunities to practice and refine EMDR + IFS interventions.

Participation in these offerings is optional and not required for CIT groups.
