Inside the Therapist

A CE for Me

A 3-Day Experiential EMDR + IFS Retreat for Therapists

16 CE Hours | NBCC • ASWB • EMDRIA

Learn from the inside out.

Continuing education doesn’t always have to look like sitting in an auditorium taking notes.

As therapists, we spend our careers helping others understand their internal worlds. We attend trainings, read books, watch demonstrations, and collect new interventions. Yet one of the most profound ways to deepen our clinical work is to experience these models ourselves.

Inside the Therapist Experiential Retreat is an invitation to do just that.

This is not a lecture-based training.

It is a deeply experiential professional development retreat where learning happens through direct experience, individualized consultation, live demonstrations, reflection, practice, and community.

You'll spend three days exploring your own internal system while simultaneously strengthening your clinical skills in EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

This retreat was created for therapists who want their continuing education to care for them, too.

This Is Your Journey.

There is no prescribed path through this retreat. No one will tell you what you "should" work on. No one will ask you to disclose more than feels right. No one will decide what your goals should be.

Instead, I’ve thoughtfully designed and curated a structure that lets you shape your own experience.

Throughout the retreat, you'll have opportunities to:

  • Explore your own system individually

  • Participate in small groups

  • Engage in partner exercises

  • Receive one-on-one guidance with a retreat facilitator

  • Attend optional facilitated discussions

  • Spend quiet time reflecting

  • Ask questions

  • Receive individualized support whenever you need it

Some therapists discover they want to spend hours journaling. Others gravitate toward partner work. Some seek out every opportunity for one-on-one guidance. Others appreciate having spaciousness to process quietly before asking for support. All of those choices are welcome.

This is, quite literally, your retreat.

What You'll Experience

Over three days, you'll move between observation, reflection, experiential learning, and individualized support in a way that deepens both your personal work and your clinical confidence. Every participant's experience will be unique, but you'll have opportunities to experience all of the following.

Watch EMDR & IFS Come Together

Observe live demonstrations of EMDR and IFS integration as experienced clinicians facilitate real experiential work. You'll see parts mapping, resourcing with IFS, target conceptualization, and deeper processing while hearing the clinical thinking behind each decision in real time.

Explore Your Own Internal System

The best way to understand this work is to experience it yourself. Through guided workbook exercises, parts mapping, interviewing parts, reflection, and experiential activities, you'll deepen your relationship with your own internal system while strengthening the same skills you bring to your clients.

Practice With Other Therapists

Learning doesn't happen by observation alone. Throughout the retreat, you'll have opportunities to practice with fellow therapists, experience both the therapist and participant roles, receive feedback, and deepen your confidence through experiential learning together.

Receive Individualized Support

Your scheduled individual meetings are dedicated entirely to you. Together, we'll explore the places where you feel stuck, deepen your understanding of your own internal system, and support the personal growth that naturally strengthens your clinical work.

Support doesn't end when your meeting does. Throughout the retreat, facilitators remain available for questions, guidance, and help moving through places where you feel stuck. Whether you're processing something that emerged unexpectedly or simply looking for direction, someone is almost always available to reconnect with.

Integrate EMDR & IFS With Confidence

Rather than learning two models separately, you'll experience how EMDR and IFS naturally complement one another. Throughout the retreat, you'll develop a deeper understanding of when to move between the models, how they inform one another, and how integration can become more intuitive in your own clinical work.

Follow Your Curiosity

There isn't one prescribed path through the retreat. Throughout the day, you'll have opportunities to choose between thoughtfully designed learning experiences while always having structure, support, and experienced facilitators available to help guide your next step.

A Typical Day

Each day begins and ends together as a group, creating a shared rhythm before moving into the day's experiential learning. Fresh coffee, tea, and other beverages are available throughout the day, and we gather for a catered outdoor buffet lunch in the beautiful San Diego weather. As a vegan myself, I know how important good food is, so we thoughtfully select menus with delicious options for vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free, and other dietary needs.

Rather than moving through the exact same schedule, you'll have multiple thoughtfully designed learning experiences happening simultaneously. While some participants are meeting one-on-one with a facilitator, others may be observing a live demonstration, participating in a facilitated small group, practicing with a partner, working through guided exercises, or spending quiet time reflecting and integrating.

Throughout the retreat, facilitators remain available—not only during scheduled meetings, but also for informal questions, consultation, or helping you decide where you'd like to spend your time next. Whether you're looking for clinical feedback, processing something that emerged unexpectedly, or simply wondering which experience might be the best fit, someone is always available to reconnect with.

The result is a retreat that feels both intentionally structured and deeply personalized.

What Makes This Retreat Different?

I don't believe therapists become better clinicians simply by collecting more information.

We become better therapists by understanding ourselves more deeply.

That's why Inside the Therapist looks different from most continuing education.

This retreat isn't built around lectures. It's built around experience.

Over three days, you'll move between observing, practicing, reflecting, receiving support, experimenting, and integrating your own learning in ways that honor your nervous system, your curiosity, and your own professional growth.

There is structure.

There is guidance.

There are demonstrations, discussions, and clinical teaching.

But at the center of it all is you.

Because the most powerful learning happens when we stop trying to perform and begin allowing ourselves to experience the work from the inside out.

Is This Retreat Right for You?

This retreat is designed for therapists who already have a foundational understanding of both EMDR and Internal Family Systems (IFS).

You'll likely feel at home here if you:

  • Are EMDR trained

  • Have a working knowledge of the IFS model, including familiarity with the 6 Fs

  • Enjoy learning through experience rather than lecture alone

  • Are open to exploring your own internal system

  • Want to strengthen both your personal growth and clinical practice

  • Value curiosity, flexibility, and authenticity in the learning process

To help everyone begin with a shared foundation, you'll have the option of participating in a pre-retreat Zoom meeting to set intentions and learn what to expect at the retreat.

The Way I Teach

I don't simply teach EMDR and IFS, I strive to embody them.

You'll notice it in the way I facilitate. The way I slow down. The way I honor choice. The way I respond when someone gets stuck. The way I make space for laughter, grief, uncertainty, curiosity, and connection.

I believe meaningful learning happens when people feel emotionally safe, genuinely welcomed, and free to participate in ways that honor their own nervous system.

My goal is to create a space where therapists feel safe enough to learn, experiment, reconnect with themselves, and leave practicing differently because they've experienced the work from the inside out.

Designed With Neurodivergent Therapists in Mind

Everyone is welcome here.

I believe the best learning happens when people feel safe, respected, and free to be themselves. I welcome therapists of all identities, backgrounds, cultures, belief systems, neurotypes, and lived experiences.

As an autistic therapist with ADHD, I intentionally designed this retreat with multiple pathways for learning, reflection, and participation. There is no "right" way to engage; you are invited, never expected, to participate in the ways that best support your nervous system and your learning.
